We go to car boot sales, a bit of grocery shopping, go to the beach or sometimes go further inland for a picnic( we are on the edge of the Scottish Highlands)We do all this with the kids, 12 & 14. I really enjoy going out on Sunday a.m. also not having to spend Saturday evening doing the WT.Sunday a.m car boot sales are fun witness spotting zones, I usually only get to see their cars, I think they must hide!

I saw Dan Sydlik at Newcastle arena in 1997 I think. His closing prayer went on so long I nearly slid down a row of seats. Also weren't there any GB at the International convention at Edinburgh 1998? I don't remember ANY of it at all!

Number of 'Anointed' down to about 4000
by nicolaou inso i was at the 'memorial' last night (that's a whole other story) and i got into a converstaion with an elder afterwards.
i asked him why no figure had been printed in our kingdom ministry for the number of uk partakers last year.
(in 2000, the figure of 300 was given, down from 319 in 1999).

Well I am a bit confused, but I thought the general gist of the'new light' on the generation meant anyone who were contemporaries of those who saw the events of 1914.I have also heard of much younger people partaking and some were thought to be replacing the earlier ones who had 'fallen away'.At my old cong there were to very old ladies who hardly spoke and would not sit by each other, allegedly because one was annointed and the other did'nt believe she was. What a load of utter tosh this all is IMO.

Why the JW won't 'confess their sins..'
by LDH inwell, richie's post on his memorial experience got me to thinking about the practice of "confessing sins" and how little jws are able to take advantage of it.. in what they term "worldly chruches," people go frequently to confess their sins.
their priest or womever offers them "absolution" and they are free to go on their merry little way and commit more sins.. now the jw will call that hypocrisy but i see it the exact other way.. according to the bible there 'is nothing new under the sun,' therefore, why should jws be afraid to confess their sins to the ones looking out for their spiritual well being?
why are they not allowed to say "brothers i've sinned again.

Some time ago I did talk number 3, about confessing and I had my householder thinking that the 2nd school( which was heavily curtained) was a confessional as she had seen people go in there with elders. This brought much wry laughter from the cong, elders included!

Britboy, I wish I could have had tea with you, sounds yummy. NO I didn't go. I was either here or crawling through the woods in the near dark(scary British pumas in here!) assisting a goat bringing forth her children. ( 1 boy, 1 girl BTW)The moon was good shining through the trees.

memorial ettiquette for worldy people??????
by concerned mama ini have been away for a few days, so forgive me if this has already been covered.. am i (a non jw) supposed to refer to the memorial in any way talking to a jw?
for example, would i say "happy memorial", or could i ask if they had a nice celebration?
since it is the one and only big day each year is there some way to acknowledge it in a friendly type conversational way?

When is Nissan 14?
by Dawn inok - here is an interesting one for ya'll.
just throwing it out there for your thoughts.. the "lords evening meal" is always celebrated on the day that corresponds to nissan 14. my parents are still jw's and (as ya'll know) the memorial service is the "most important meeting of the year" - they literally cry if i don't go.
so i'm thinking - i'll show my mother and father honor by going - i can fake it through one meeting right?!
